The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) is the State of Indiana's lead economic development agency.
The IEDC focuses its efforts on growing and retaining businesses in Indiana and attracting new business to the State
of Indiana.
It's Office of International Development has established 5 international offices in strategic locations throughout
the world. Each office has a corresponding geographic international development specialist located in Indianapolis to
facilitate communications between companies and overseas office staff. Indiana representative offices are located in:
Australia, China, Europe, Japan and Taiwan.
The International Center of Indianapolis helps the greater Indianapolis community welcome and connect people of all
cultures. The center provides global relocation and training programs, facilitates a visitors program for international
delegations, and organizes foreign language support services.
U.S. Commercial Service has trade specialists in over 100 U.S. cities and in more than 80 countries to work with your
company to help you get started in exporting or increase your sales to new global markets. Their services include:

- Trade events that promote your product or service to qualified buyers
- Introductions to qualified buyers and distributors
- Counseling and advocacy through every step of the export process
The American Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AmChams) advance the interests of American business overseas. They are
voluntary associations of American companies and individuals doing business in a particular country, as well as firms
and individuals of that country who operate in the United States. Currently there are 105 AmChams in 91 countries that
are affiliated with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products, build new
markets, improve the competitive position of U.S. agriculture in the global marketplace, and provide food aid and technical assistance to
foreign countries.
The Foreign Agricultural Service staffs 102 offices in 82 countries around the world.
Indianapolis International Airport is a major catalyst for economic development in the central Indiana region. The
airport serves over 8.5 million passengers each year and has a new $1.1 billion passenger terminal building.
Located at the Crossroads of America, Indianapolis International Airport is also home to the second largest FedEx
operation in the world and the United States Postal Service's Eagle Network Hub. Due to the close proximity of these
hubs, INzone which is Central Indiana's foreign trade zone, allows users have a longer, more flexible shipping day for
worldwide distribution of mail, cargo and freight. These logistical advantages are so popular that Central Indiana is
home to 18 designated subzones.
The Ports of Indiana is a quasi-governmental organization that operates a statewide system of ports, foreign trade
zones and economic development programs under the authority of the Indiana Port Commission, a seven-member bipartisan
board appointed by the governor.
The state of Indiana annually ships about 70 million tons of cargo by water each year, which ranks 14th among all
U.S. states. More than half of Indiana's border is water, which includes 400 miles of direct access to two major
international freight transportation arteries: the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Seaway (via Lake Michigan) and the Inland
Waterway System (via the Ohio River).
